On a very fine morning when you woke up and saw yourself in the mirror and suddenly you noticed that there is a blister on your lips.
The first thought that came to your mind was, it will go away by itself. But later, you felt a burning sensation and the itching on the lips made it difficult for you to eat as that part of your mouth had become highly sensitive.
Sound familiar? These are the symptoms of a cold sore.
Cold Sores are the blisters that are caused by the herpes simplex virus. These cold sores can be quite painful and mainly occur on the lips and around the mouth.
They can take a long time to heal by themselves but what if you have some upcoming engagement and need the cold sores to leave as soon as possible? Well, do not worry; we have a few neat solutions for you!
Catch it As Soon As Possible
If you want to put a brake on the influx of cold sores on your face then you should try to catch it at a very early stage. Pay proper attention to these blisters when they are in the “prodromal stage”.
At this stage, you can start feeling the soreness, inflammation, itching or tingling on the area where the blister is going to break out.
Ice is one of the best remedies to heal the cold sores and the accompanying irritation and soreness. The moment you start feeling a tingling sensation on your lips or around the mouth, the cold compression can help you reduce the pain and eliminate the redness and swelling. Ice will also prevent it from spreading.
Applying baking soda on your blister can help you to get rid of it overnight. Baking soda creates an alkaline base which makes it difficult for the blisters to survive in this environment. To remove these cold sores quickly, you should regularly repeat this remedy.
Aloe vera has natural healing as well as antibacterial properties, due to which it can help you to cure infected areas. Aloe Vera helps to keep the infected area clean and soft so that it does not cause any further infection. This remedy can help you reduce and heal the inflammation caused as a result of the blisters.
Due to the presence of antimicrobial properties, honey can help you to heal the infected sore. Along with this, it also helps in soothing the inflamed and irritated skin. To get better results overnight, apply honey on your blister and leave it for 6-7 minutes, and rinse it with water later on. Follow this remedy twice a day for best results.
Avoid Acidic Food and Opt for Vitamin C
There are many fruits that contain acid such as oranges. Intake of these fruits usually irritates the skin and worsens your pain.
But most of these acidic fruits also consist of Vitamin C that helps in boosting the white cells in your body to fight the infection. During cold sores, take the tablets that contain vitamin C so that they can fight the battle for you.
This may sound a bit strange but milk is one of the best treatments for blisters. Milk consists of antibacterial and antiviral properties that can treat the infection and soothe your skin. To get rid of cold sores overnight, soak a cotton ball in milk, apply it on your blister and leave it for 1-2 minutes. Repeat this procedure after every 2 hours.
Drink Plenty of Water
Dehydration does not directly cause cold sores but the shortage of fluids in your body can activate the virus that causes cold sores.
Dry lips lead to the infection so make sure that you drink plenty of water every day. This will not only help you to get rid of cold sores but will also help to keep your body healthy.
